​​The Benefits of Case Studies

For many years, business, medical and law schools have based curriculum on the analysis of real-world cases, while professors in a variety of disciplines have found an occasional case study helps to assess a students' ability to synthesize, evaluate and apply information and concepts learned in lectures and texts. Our faculty and leadership is highly interested in involving program participants in classroom discussions and have found that case studies provide a rich basis for developing problem solving and decision making skills. In the Big Data Certificate Program, we utilize case studies throughout the curriculum in order to give real-world application to each module being taught.
