Timm Walker has many recording engineering and production credits, to include latest work on the most recent CD release by his own band BeaufunK titled “Resuscitation of FunK.” Like the other two releases by the band, Walker did most of the songwriting, as well as all or most of the engineering and production. He has also been involved extensively in the production and engineering of a soon to be released recording by the legendary funk drummer Zigaboo Modeliste, original drummer of The Meters. In addition, Walker has engineered and produced many other works by numerous Bay Area artists.
As a teacher, Timm has been an Assistant Professor at Contra Costa College and SF State's College of Extended Learning - Music Recording Industry Program for more than fourteen years. He has also taken temporary assignments at Los Medanos College several times during his teaching career. During said career, Walker has studied and worked primarily with the digital audio program Pro Tools. All his classes to date have used Pro Tools as the audio program of choice. In addition to software based recording techniques, Timm also has extensive knowledge and experience with the hardware world of production, such as consoles, microphones, effects processors, and MIDI devices, including all of these in his class curriculum. In addition to teaching from Pro Tools, Walker has also structured and taught classes that focus on MIDI production, primarily using the MIDI program Reason.
Perhaps more than any of the above, Timm Walker is a well established professional musician in the Bay Area and beyond. Although primarily known as a bassist and vocalist, he has lately begun to establish himself as a formidable guitarist, acquiring the second guitar chair with a band formed and lead by aforementioned legendary drummer Zigaboo Modeliste. Walker is also the founder, bassist, and secondary vocalist of the BeaufunK, as well as a member of the driving rhythm section of the Bay Area’s popular Zydeco Flames. Walker has also toured with the Grammy winning Elvin Bishop Band.
