How to Apply
Follow the admissions procedures listed on the Center for Global Engagement How to Apply for Academic Certificate Programs page. Students will be notified of their admission status by the admissions coordinator.
Complete the online application form and follow the application instructions below.
Certificate applicants must meet the admission requirements.
All students must supply official hard copy transcripts of their college work. Students with baccalaureate or academic associate degrees need to provide official transcripts from the college from which they graduated. Students without such a degree must provide college transcripts from all the colleges they attended. All transcripts MUST be submitted with the application for a student to be accepted as a certificate student. We will accept unofficial academic records in order to make an admission decision. All admitted applicants must submit an official academic record upon enrollment.
Mail your official hard copy transcripts to the SF State Main Campus, or submit them in person. You may also submit them in person at the Extended Learning front desk, ATTN: Center for Global Engagement.

The course fee includes:
- An unlimited transportation pass for local buses and trains
- Access to the brand new Mashouf Wellness Center including state of the art fitness and aquatics facilities and a recreation and outdoor program
- A robust orientation program and ongoing advising services
An activities program with:
- Outdoor recreation, cultural events and sports
- Visits to San Francisco neighborhoods famous for their unique culture, arts, music, food, businesses and more
- Guest speakers from local industries
All candidates should have completed the equivalent of 56 units of undergraduate courses with a GPA of at least 2.3 in all courses and 2.5 in business, management or hospitality courses. English language ability must be demonstrated by adequate scores on one of the following tests, or certification by appropriate academic personnel. Please review the English Proficiency Requirement page for details.
Optional Practical Training
Optional Practical Training (OPT) offers international students the opportunity to work up to one full year in the United States after nine months of full-time study.*

HTM Certificate students pay a flat program fee of $6,700 per semester which includes academic course fees ($4,740) and miscellaneous fees ($1,960). The program fee must be paid in full seven calendar days prior to the first day of semester instruction. See below summary of key dates and refund policies for academic course fees and miscellaneous fees. Please note the application fee is non-refundable.
