The second course builds on information provided in the first course and includes understanding essential intervener strategies such as pacing and sensory processing, and key principals of the intervener motto, "Do with, not for." Course content also includes the dynamics of communication exchanges and how to gather useful information for building effective communication systems, strategies for supporting the development of concepts, and utilizing routines and calendar systems to support access, anticipation, and language acquisition.

There will be three synchronous Zoom class meetings during the semester. These will be scheduled by the instructor, Julie Maier.
This course does not use the SFSU iLearn Platform. The course instructor will contact students at the start of the semester through your SFSU email account with instructions for accessing the Open Hands, Open Access Intervener Training Modules that are used in this course.
