We are proud to announce that Komal Patel is the recipient of the 2026 Professor Michael Green and Ann Sartori Scholarship. A student in the Pre-Health Professions career changer track, Komal has excelled academically, helped foster a collaborative classroom environment and facilitated a General Chemistry workshop for new students.

In addition to succeeding in a rigorous academic setting, she has volunteered at community clinics and shelters, furthering her interest in veterinary medicine. She is a wonderful representative of the program, and we wish her every success as she pursues a career as a veterinarian.

Students like Komal have benefited from the Green and Sartori family’s generosity, and we deeply appreciate their continued support of Pre-Health Professions Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program students.

Professor Michael Green and Ann Sartori Scholarship

After retiring from the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Professor Michael Green taught in SFSU’s Pre-Health Professions Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program from fall 2015 to fall 2017. While he mentored hundreds of medical and graduate students during his long career, he often mentioned his time at SFSU as one of his favorite teaching experiences.

Ann Sartori was a Montessori-certified preschool teacher for many years. In 1986, she graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law and was admitted to the Missouri Bar. Today, she lives in San Francisco and enjoys spending time with her children, Josh and Sarah, and her two grandchildren.

The scholarship honors Professor Michael Green’s impact on students and colleagues by establishing an ongoing fund to support highly motivated and deserving students in the Pre-Health Professions Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program.
